mystery CDs

gotta love 'em - CDs you made like 4+ years ago, that have no identifying information on them. you put them in and wait to hear what you're in store for. if you are lucky, as i was this morning on a long, very early drive where i was in the mood to sing at the TOP OF MY LUNGS, you still love all the songs!

can i get a "hell yah" for mystery CDs?

did i drink the poisoned water?

chances are since i have a low following of readers that no one will be offended by this post, but just in case - i apologize now. this is merely my opinion and events over the last few days seem to justify my opinion. i call it....

ATTACK OF THE STUPID PEOPLE

...now i don't even think of any of these people i've been in contact lately are stupid, but i do think there is some moon cycle or a weird additive in the water that is making people a little flaky. *i've also considered the heat and sun of michigan this time of year. especially up north here in big rapids, a lot of folks spend their time in the sun - remember sunscreen and don't stay out too long! it might be having a negative effect on your communication skills. :)

now, i should say that i do work in an environment where i get phone calls from software users who are having problems. i don't typically get calls when things are working! so that could be part of it, but this week has seen an influx of people both in my work life and my other life who just don't seem to get it.

that reminds me of a book - i highly recommend, it is a chick book - summer sisters by judy blume. this is actually a book i've read several times because its soooo good. i can put away 3 books in a good week so i don't usually have to reread anything. i'm an avid library goer - or i should say my mom is, and she has fantastic taste in books - so there is always a supply for my addiction. but anyway, the book follows a pair of girlfriends from school days into their 30s and when the two are younger its all about 'getting it'.

ok...

on another note, i've been cleaning like nuts here to get my spare bedroom functional - its almost there! i could cry happy tears. :) tonight i found two different kits to make beaded watches and created this:

please excuse the nasty color - i do not yet own a good digital camera so those are from my 'old' cell phone camera :). the beads are all pink - how fun! you can never have too much pink, and a pink watch is almost as vital to a wardrobe as pink pants!

purse happy

even though my weekend was packed with fun activities as well as loads of cleaning :( - i did have chance to sew a yin-yang purse.... yeah its to die for. i can't post pictures because its a gift and i didn't have a chance to take any!!! i did find lots of great fabric at hobby lobby though and after i make the next one i'll post pictures. (if i didn't have so much tidying to do at home tonight i would probably whipped up another one! the first one only took me about 2 1/2 hours.)

if you want to check out the purse pattern visit this site: http://www.earthstores.com/Scrapbags/ the pattern is really straight forward and easy to follow! i highly recommend it. it also sews up bigger then the picture made me imagine, so there is plenty of space inside to tote the essentials and a few extra items.

tie-dye crazy

i got into a tie-dye phase a while ago. i bought three colors and a ton of tees. i only used one and kept the others for a future tie-dye frenzy...which happened tonight! i promise pictures later of my fab creations - *fingers-crossed* - hopefully fab creations. 2 different t-shirts, one green and purple and one just purple.

its time to rinse so i'm gonna jet...

i heart quotes. this one was on my google reader today and i wanted to share it will all of you!

* * *

i had my first dentist visit in over a year today, and have to say that i think i adore my new dentist. i always hate going to a new dentist because it freaks me out - i'm afraid i'll have cavities all over the place! rest assured, i passed my exam! whoo hoo! no dentures or drills in my near future.

i'm drooling...

i got techie on my way to bed - a link came up in gmail and like a sucker i followed it. now i want this: sprint mogul

ah... its on my wish list...

hump day

well, today is, as wednesday is known in many circles, hump day. it was one of the better for me. i felt very busy and productive at work, yet also tired and a bit run down. the good thing is - as all of us m-f working folks know - its almost the weekend now!

i was too tired to do anything after work but nap, so i don't have any witty stories to share. i did finish a photo collage frame. last night i ripped out old photos that included me with an old boyfriend and i replace all the pictures with me and friends or family. new pictures and old ones that will be great convo starters when i have visitors. whatever the case, i love looking at old photos and the task was very enjoyable. plus now i have more bling on my walls. :)

ooh! i do have to share my subway experience today - i had a new sub, and this is odd for me. i'm the type to eat the same, familiar, comfortable food i always order at a restaurant because i know its a good bet. i was wild today! the chicken ranch-a-fey or something - SO SO SO yummy. i can't find the name or anything on subways site so you'll just have to run out to the local subway and see whats going on. it was a party in my mouth. (*for all you ranch haters, i am one too!!! but this isn't ranch-ie so check it out.)

i'm winding down... but i want to share a quote:

"To err is human - and to blame it on a computer is even more so." - Robert Orben

welcome

welcome to KIMBALAND. i've always wanted to try this blog thing, and so here goes. i'm hoping to use this as a forum to post my crafty projects and maybe share some random ramblings or thoughts. i will tell you all up front that it in this point in my life, i'm in a newish place, and not subscribing to cable for once. thus, i have fewer activities to keep me busy and i've turned into a mouse potato.

for my knitter friends, i'm super excited with the new kitty - if you haven't been to knitty before GO NOW: www.knitty.com. i'm going to attempt these great projects as soon as i get around to getting the yarn:

until then, here's what i've been up to... curtains for the new pad. i have one of those little sinks with no vanity, so i added a fish themed skirt to it so i can hide the pipes, and store little things under it! the fabric is fantastic! i have leopard print fabric for a window curtain and closet door curtain in my room, and the most fun, colorific, spark-a-ly fabric for the closet in my spare bedroom.

i recently read the best book from the library about wire jewelry and i'm running out to get supplies as soon as i'm in a town with a good craft store! i was so inspired. i love new jewelry and what could be better then making your own!

oh! and i wish i had a picture of the fab purse my awesome friend gave me for my birthday. i've gotten so many compliments on it and i've only been carrying it since saturday. its pink and fuzzy. she used two fun yarns to create this masterpiece. it has large circular, bamboo handles that you can fit on your shoulder for carrying the purse around, and it has a light pink lining.

right now i'm trying out a great site i just heard about today: box.net. i have to get about 43 MB of files to a good friend in australia so i'm trying this out. it has a nice drag 'n drop feature for choosing your files to upload. i'm uploading the whole folder! its been going since about 6 pm tonight and should be done in about 78 minutes. the site lets you store up to 1 GB of files for free, and then you can may a small fee for more storage. i will report back and let you know if my friend was able to get the files on his end.

this 'chile of the sun' is going to go relax now. if i have any visitors - YEAH! thanks for dropping by...
